1. Who we are, and who these terms are with
676 (the "site", "we", "us") lets you claim one of 676 two-letter positions from AA to ZZ. It's operated by Neep, an ordinary UK partnership, which is not required to register with Companies House.
Neep is not VAT registered, so the prices shown don't have VAT added. We'll update this if that changes.
By submitting a claim, paying an invoice or otherwise using the site, you're entering into a contract with us on these terms. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the site.
2. Who can claim a pair
You must be at least 18 and legally able to enter into a contract to claim a pair. If you're claiming on behalf of a company or organisation, you're confirming you have the authority to do so, and that entity becomes responsible under these terms alongside you.
3. What you're actually getting
You're claiming one position in the 676 grid, not the letters themselves. Claiming ED doesn't give you a trademark, a domain name, or any other legal right over "E" or "D". It doesn't give you any intellectual property right beyond the ability to display your own display name, description, colour and link on that one position. You are claiming the position, not the letters.
Once you've paid and we've confirmed your claim, we won't sell that pair to anyone else.
676 is not advertising inventory, an SEO or backlink product, an investment or a domain marketplace, and claiming a pair is not a promise of any particular traffic, visibility or business outcome.
4. How claiming actually works
Filling in the form doesn't reserve your pair. We're a static site, so someone else might submit a request just before you. Whoever submitted first gets priority, provided their claim is valid under these terms. Your pair is only reserved once we've reviewed and accepted your claim, and that reservation lasts 48 hours from acceptance while you pay. Miss the window and the pair can go back to available for the next valid claimant.
We may reject a claim for any of the reasons in section 6, or if an earlier valid claim for the same pair already exists.
5. Price and payment
Prices are in GBP, shown on each pair's page and vary by pair. If your claim is accepted, the price shown at acceptance is honoured for your reservation window. You pay through a Stripe-hosted invoice; we don't take payment before your claim has been reviewed and accepted. We don't negotiate on price, and we don't offer bulk discounts for claiming more than one pair.
6. What you can't use a pair for
Your display name, description and destination link must not involve, at minimum:
- illegal content
- explicit sexual content
- malware
- phishing
- fraud or scams
- hate or extremist material
- prohibited gambling
- prohibited drugs or weapons
- impersonating someone, or falsely implying you're linked to or endorsed by them
- clear infringement of someone else's intellectual property
Having initials that match a famous brand doesn't reserve the pair for them, and it doesn't stop you claiming it either - the pair itself is neutral. You just can't use it to pretend to be that person or company, or to imply an association that doesn't exist.
If you believe a claimed pair infringes your rights or impersonates you, contact us (section 15) with details. We'll investigate and may remove content, disable the destination link or take other action under section 7.
7. Moderation, suspension and removal
We manually check display names, descriptions and destination URLs before publishing. We can reject a claim if someone got there first, the content breaks section 6, the URL isn't valid HTTPS or you've otherwise broken these terms.
If a destination later becomes unsafe, expired, compromised or otherwise breaches section 6, we may stop rendering the outbound link without notice. Your pair stays claimed either way - we don't publicly flag it as suspended, the link simply stops appearing. We may also, in serious cases (fraud, illegal content, repeated breaches), remove your display name and description, or terminate your claim entirely; we'll try to contact you first where practical.
8. Your content and licence to us
You keep ownership of the display name, description and any wording you submit. By submitting it, you give us a licence to display it on your pair's page, the grid, and anywhere else on the site, for as long as your pair remains claimed. You confirm you have the right to submit it and that it doesn't infringe anyone else's rights.
9. Outbound links
Your destination link is a paid placement, marked rel="sponsored". We don't promise it'll help your SEO, deliver traffic, clicks or any particular conversion outcome.
10. Changes, transfers and cancelling
Want to update your display name, description, colour or destination link later? Email us and we'll sort it manually, subject to the same moderation as a new claim. The pair code itself can't be changed. We don't currently support transferring or reselling a claimed pair to someone else, though we may revisit this in future.
You can cancel for any reason within 14 days of your claim being confirmed, for a full refund - whether or not your page has already gone live. Once you cancel, we'll take your page down and the pair becomes available for someone else to claim.
To cancel, just email us - there's no specific form required, and no need to give a reason.
Outside of that window, we don't use a blanket "no refunds" policy either. Where the law gives you a right to a refund, you get one, and we'd rather resolve a genuine problem directly with you than see it escalate into a card dispute - contact us first.
11. How long will this stay up?
We intend 676 to be a long-running project, but we do not guarantee that the service will operate for any minimum period. Things happen: the business could close, the law could change, circumstances outside our control could force a shutdown. What we do promise is narrower: a pair that's been paid for and confirmed won't be resold to someone else, for as long as the site exists. If we ever do decide to close 676 permanently, we'll try to give reasonable notice.
12. Third-party services
676 relies on third-party services to operate: Stripe for payment, Formspree for claim submissions, Cloudflare for hosting and Plausible for analytics. We choose these providers carefully, but we don't control their uptime or performance, and we're not liable for outages, errors or data loss caused by them.
13. Liability
We do not guarantee any level of traffic, clicks, search ranking, commercial benefit or uninterrupted availability. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so - for example, death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or fraud - and your other legal rights as a consumer are not affected.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time - to reflect a change in the law, our services or how 676 operates. We'll post the updated version here with a new effective date. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the update; if a change materially affects a pair you've already claimed, we'll try to let you know directly.
15. Contact and complaints
Questions about these terms, or a complaint about how we've handled something: see Contact. We'll aim to acknowledge complaints promptly and resolve them fairly.
16. General
If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands. We may assign these terms (for example, if the business is sold); you may not assign your claim without our agreement, except as allowed under section 10. These terms, together with the Privacy Notice, are the entire agreement between us about your pair - anything discussed by email forms part of that agreement only to the extent it doesn't conflict with what's written here.
17. Governing law
These terms are governed by Scots law, and the Scottish courts have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute. If you're a consumer, you also retain any mandatory rights you have under the law of the country where you live.
